The Weekend...Movies and Football

This weekend I took my hubby to go see a movie. Now typically I am a fan of the comedy or romance and this weekend we went to go and see the new Resident Evil movie ( in IMAX 3D). I was actually surprised that it was as good as it was.  Lots of action, a decent story line and lots of blood and gore for the hubby.  I even jumped a few times. I am actually looking forward to seeing if they make another one.

After the movie, I had to drop the hubby off and head to the local High School because well I am a good auntie and I love my nephews a lot. It was football... now the hubby is really not into football and will typically only go to one game a year for each boy. I on the other hand try my hardest to go to every game.  Well, I was able to make it to the final 2 minutes of the Cubs game and was in time for varsity that was starting right after. Now the Cubs are 9-10 year olds and they try very hard but have not won yet this year. This particular game they were up against the TOP team, I was REALLY happy to see that my nephews team held them to 22 points!

Next up the Varsity team they are currently 1-1 and the team they are going up against has some of the BIGGEST 12-14 year olds I have ever seen. The kid (if you can call him that) my nephew was going up against was 198lbs (my nephew is 145) and this kid was 6'8" TALL!!!!! my nephew is 5'8"!!! Where the hell did this ginormus kid come from???? What the heck are his parents feeding him?  This was the biggest kid on the team but the rest of the team was not small either, most of them were bigger than our boys. Now my nephew, I am beyond proud of... he dominated this big ginormus kid and kept him back when he needed to. OK so a few times the big kid lifted his arm and my nephew went right under but for the most part it was total domination.  I said it before and I will say it again, I am so proud of him and the job he did... even though they did end up not wining the game.

Guess that is my queue to go... We have Thunder and Lightning going on right now...

What to do?

I am having a hard time, I am bored, who knew that afternoon TV was so boring? I have been trying to watch movies, go to coffee with friends, get out of the house but not spend any money. The life of the unemployed.

I put out a few resumes over the weekend and guess what? I actually got a call on one that I applied for. It is a phone interview to begin with and maybe if we are a good fit we will be able to meet in person for another interview.

Also, to try and stay busy I am going to post stuff on eBay. We will see how that goes.

Oh yeah! I forgot... we did survive the meal, my son grilled Salmon, garlic bread and made a salad.. It was a great first start.

Well I will post more later if I have anything fun and interesting for ya... or even if I don't

A Week since black Wednesday

It has now been a week since I was laid off. My apartment has not been this clean and organized since my BFF (who is a clean freak) moved away. Now that is not to say that I am a horrible house keeper but I always find other stuff to do, like watch TV, look at the magazines that I ordered from my nephews during a fund raiser for the school... play games on Facebook. You know the important stuff in life.
Anyway, I have to go though the bathroom cupboards and shred a bunch of stuff we don't need to have any more. Other than that it is all just keeping up with what ever mess the boys leave me with.
I have gotten a few resumes out to companies that I think I would like to work for. That is one this about Seattle,  we have a lot of great companies in the area to work for, it is just getting in that takes a lot of work.

Oh did I mention that my son, my baby the only one that I will ever have has decided to make dinner for his dad and I tonight?  If we are not dead I will post how it turned out later.

ummm I guess it is a new, new goal for the month...

While the goal that I posted a few days ago is still a go and totally obtainable, I now have a new goal and this one is probably going to be a bit harder than the other.
As I have posted before our office has gone from 50+ to just 8 in a two year period. We all knew that it was just a matter of time before we are all let go.  So shortly after I wrote the blog on the 1st the 'big boss' from the east coast comes walking in the office....  all of us are like Ohhh Sh!t, here it comes. So ling story short, I am now in with the masses of the unemployed.

So the new goal to add it to get my resume together and start the job hunt. Hip Hip Hoary!!!

I am really thankful that I have a hubby that is very supportive and encouraging.  So I guess I will be blogging about the exploits for looking for a new job.

But I guess this means that I will have time to get my kitchen organized again and workable since I will be doing a lot more cooking and baking this year!

New Month / New Goals

So here we are the beginning of a new month.. What what?!? wasn't it just the start of summer? Oh yeah, that's right I live in Seattle and we did not have much of a summer at all this year. You blink and it is gone.  Anyway, it is a new month, most kids are back in school, and lives are getting back to normal.

I have been 'trying' to get into better shape as most all of us are in some way or another and I for one know that I have a 'few' pounds to loose. So I am going to set a goal right here right now. I need to make sure that the Winter Weight does not pop back on this year as it gets harder and harder every year to get rid of it.  I have read somewhere that it takes 30 days to form a habit... so here it is now in writing. I am going to ride that damn exercise bike every day for at least 15 minutes a day. OK I have now put it out there so it must be done. right?

The Hubby ( I hate him) just thinks about loosing a few pounds and boom there he is down 20 lbs (WTH!) I know logically and well biologically men are not 'supposed' to hold on to the weight like women are, but still it is SO aggravating.  So here I am this is starting of day one, all the other days don't count, just this one day right here.  YAY ME....GO GO GO!!! Yes, I really need to get inspiration and motivation!

Frustrated and a bit Po'd

So I work in a small office. Very small, we are talking there are now 8 people remaining in the office. When I first started working here there were at least 50 people. As something special for all of the employees hard work during the month the company would pay for a month end lunch for all of the employees. It could be Pizza, salads or subs. occasionally we would have a pot luck and everyone, OK almost everyone would participate.

Well as with the current economic times and down sizing has happened the free lunch has gone away along with most of the staffing. One job description has turned into MANY and I have the (ahem) pleasure of trying to make sure we stick to the month end lunch, 90% of the time it is a pot luck. we have some amazing cooks here and we have a theme of some sort including Mexican, Italian, Salad bar, Sandwich bar, appetizers... well you get the picture.

Any who, on to this month and NO ONE wants to do a potluck this month so we decide we are all going to toss some $ into the pot and get something. Terriyaki, no one person here despises it. Chinese, no too many carbs and fat and MSG, Sandwiches, nah kinda tired of those... Pizza, well I guess that would be ok.  We have only one Pizza place that delivers in the area and I went on to the website, found two different veggie pizza's a couple of meat pizza's. I let EVERY one in the office know what I was going to order.  Last week it was GREAT. Cool... I do a pre order the day before and let everyone know again what I ordered and how much it is going to be.  Of coarse, the one person that I could count on to have a fit has one I ordered a pizza specifically for her because she is sooooooo particular. I let her know what I have ordered and now she says, don't worry about me I will not be eating it any way so you should just cancel the order. WHAT?!?!?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! Ummm we talked about this last week, if is because they don't have Feta cheese I will just go to the store and get you some. So she walks over to my desk slaps a $20 down and said just pay for it, I dont want any change... walks away in a huff WTF?!?! Guess I am going to go to the store get her some feta and pick up a salad and some drinks. Yay me...

Needless to say I am a bit put off by this and I am really tired of trying to make this thing good for everyone.  I am really thinking that next month if we are still here ( we are month to month at this point) I am going to just pass it off to miss Uber picky and see how much fun she has with trying to please everyone and make sure everyone is happy with the choice.

Ok it is now out in the universe and I am done venting, for now, unless she starts up again...

OMG this has been an experience to say the least. Grab a soda and a snack sit back and enjoy my days from HELL…

On Monday I went on line to check out the pricing of Dish and to make sure this is the way that I really wanted to go… I filled out part of a form got the pricing information that I wanted. I logged off and about 30 minutes later I get a call, asking if I am ready to sign up…

Me: Not right now I am at work and can not take the time to do it just now; I will call you when I am ready.
Them:  well it will only take a few minutes of your time
Me: no I am at work I will call later
Them: OK what time is good to call you back?
Me: depends on traffic, but I will call when I am ready. OK I have to go now I am at work…

5:30Pm Monday
Phone rings…. It is dish network calling…

Bah blah blah… Yadda Yadda Yadda

Them: Ok, I need to charge you for the first month now, do you want to use the VISA you gave me or another card.
Me: Actually, I have some bills coming out of my account and I need to make sure they are covered before I pay for the service, can you put this on hold?
Them: Sure I can put this order in hold for you, just call this number when you are ready and they will be able to pull everything up and get you started again.
Me Ok GREAT, Thank you!

Tuesday….
Wednesday…
Me: Hmmm… Let me check my bank account to make sure everything has gone through and I have enough to get gas…
Bank account: $2.25
Me: WTH?!? There should be more in there… (I only put into checking what we need, the rest goes into savings... )
Bank account transactions: DISH NETWORK $55.09
ME: WTH? I thought that I canceled them. CRAP… Look for cell phone… Left it at home. No way to tell if the tech is going to be out or not. Call the kid… YADDA (stay home) YADDA (keep my Cell By you) YADDA Call me if they show up.

Kid in shower when phone rings… missed the call….

I get home check the message: No line of site…
Called the number the ‘tech’ asked if I had cut down the trees that needed to be cut down yet… Ummm NO, In apt. not house, not able to cut down trees, why no call to let me know that you are going to be out. Why no contact with person that is ordering the service
um don’t have to…
Ok so what now…
Send out a supervisor to check the line of site,
Ok today?
No you live in a rural area
?!?!? RURAL?!?!?! I live in Bellevue, that is NOT RURAL
Ok let me say it this way, we service all of Washington and we do have techs in your area but they have already been home for a while and I don’t want to send them out again.
Ok so then tomorrow.
I connect you with Dish and they will set it up… OK... Hold music for 7 minutes… no one came on the line.
Hang up, call dish directly…  We are sooooo sorry for the problems you have had. We will get a supervisor out tomorrow. Okay great not specific time but they will call in the morning to verify what time you will be available… Fantastic, Thanks!!

30 mins go by, phone rings, hi this is Ashley with Dish network were you able to get everything set up? Oh wait the notes just updated, so you have been called and you are all set up for an appointment.
Me: explain the story ALL OVER AGAIN…
Oh I am so sorry to hear about that this is not how we want things to go at all…. Yadda yadda yadda…
Ok thanks – hang up…

15 minutes go by… Hi this is Jess from Dish network and we talked on Monday, I am so sorry this has happened to you, I hit the back button and I though that would cancel the order. I did not intend for it to go through
ME: I understand accidents happen.

Them: well while I have you on the phone I might as well finish getting you all set up.  35 Min's later we are done.

Me: Happy… but crap I have a lot to watch on the Cable DVR before it goes back… oh well, I can get them all on line. Off to bed…

Thursday Morning… get to work. Hi all I am leaving at 11:30 today to go home and get dish all set up… Ok no prob…
Check email… Order CANCELLATION confirmation from Dish network… WTF?!?!?!?  Call number… I did NOT cancel. Well the tech canceled it since there was no line of sight… UGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH

Needless to say I spent another 50 minutes on the phone. A Supervisor will be out at the house Today to see if I can get service or not.  FINGERS CROSSED!!!

Nope... no go , there really is no line of sight from my little nook in the world.

The field supervisor that was sent out was very nice and did recommend that I call the competition, as they have so many more satellites and can get a different angle.

So here it is Wednesday morning, I am at work, I have my coffee, I have had breakfast and I have my allergies today! YIPPEE!!! Best way in to wake up in the morning? Sneezing every few minutes! Grrrr. C'mon already it is August! it should be done and over with by now.

This week has been pretty dull, Work, home, bike, cook, Dexter, bed...Then all the same the next day. Gee my life is so mundane!

Also, did you know that melatonin (the best natural sleep aid ever) can give you some really vivid and funky dreams? I was really not aware of that until I started watching a Dexter marathon while taking the pills... it makes for some REALLY strange and demented dreams!

Anyhoo!!! That is all I have in my super duper exciting life!

Sunday

Sunday, lovely Sunday... What do we have planned for the day... Grocery shopping, laundry, get everything organizes for the week, plan the dinner menu for the week make cupcakes, and last but not lease make sure it is all done before True Blood starts tonight.

So the hubby typically does not like the same shows that I do, especially if it has to do with vampires, however, this is the exception to the rule. He is just as addicted to this show as I am. I really think that it has a lot to do with the 'exposed' skin on the show but he claims that it is the story line that he really likes... hmmm isn't that what they say about 'those' magazines... I am just getting it for the articles??? Either way I am OK with it.

We, I say that term very loosely, got the exercise bike all put together and it works like a champ. And it kicked our butts last night. We are looking at the different iFit programs that you can add to it and with the hubby being a techy loves the idea of using the SD cards to put new programs on the bike.

Ohhhhh.... the Blue Angles just flew over the house, Seafair in Seattle... LOVE it. Gotta go watch now!

Day 2... It's Friday!

Finally the day is over and I am so happy to report that the weekend has finally arrived!  This weekend the hubby has decided to stay home and not take off to go ride with the Bff.  This is actually a good thing. You see, I have just gotten a huge UPS package and I need to have him home to assemble the item that comes in the huge UPS package. We got a new exercise bike! This one comes with all the bells and whistles and should get us into shape in no time at all!!!

Well, as long as it does not become a coat rack or backpack holder like that last one did I think that we will be in good shape (haha).

I am thinking that I will take some pictures along the way also. it may be funny to watch the progress, along with the swearing, and tool throwing and maybe a band aid or two along the way.  (love you hunny, you know that I am just kidding)

Anyway, we had a nice dinner and now it is time to sit back and watch some movies!

Highlight of the day: Hey it is Friday, what more can I say.
Lowliest of the day: Got out of the house a bit too late for a Starbucks run this morning. Office coffee it was....

have a fantastic evening all

TTFN!

New to blogging? Why yes I am thank you very much!!!

Ok, so here it goes, my very first post. I don't know why I am doing this other than the fact that I LOVE to read other blogs! so I thought 'why not me too?'.

I chose the name of the blog because, well, my hubby loves to leave me for part or all of the weekend to go off with his BFF and ride dirt bikes. I on the other hand, have not ridden one by myself in 9 years, and really do not expect to ever do so again (bad crash, broken bones, crutches and the ever swollen ankle made my mind up for me).  The other part of the weekend is usually spent in the BFF's garage tuning or fixing what ever got broke while they were out climbing mountains, crossing deserts and racing through the forests of Washington.

I on the other hand, stay home and clean, or watch movies and or go have a girls day with the Bff's fantastic wife.

So basically in this blog I will probably post about my hubby, my kid, my friends and what I do. I do not know if it will be particularly interesting or if it will ever be read by anyone that I don't know, but hey, here I am giving this new adventure a try. I am not a writter and the closest I have gotten to writing in recent years is editing or helping the kid with homework.  So please keep that in mind as I go along and I really hope that you will enjoy my venture.

The highlight of my day: The new IKEA catalog came in the mail today...
The lowliest(?) of my day: Waking up and remembering it was only Thursday...
